It's a Trap: Dates are deadly baits

13 August 2014
Last Tuesday, I heard and overheard stories of falling under a trap. There are many traps in this world and you everyday, you have no idea when and where you are stepping on a vicious trap.
So going back to the stories I've heard, some surprised me and some annoyed me. After hearing them, I can now say that a trap is not just a trap, but it can also discourage you from trusting someone again.

" You said you're 18, not 35 or something. "
Blind dates are very rare these days since there is already Facebook and Twitter which you can use to check someone's profile. It is very unusual to hear a story that there was a guy who went on a blind date and was planning to meet a girl but then, unfortunately, she looks older than him and planned not to see her again. It made me laugh, but at the same time, surprised because why would you go on a blind date on this modern era of fast & accurate technology.

" Let's go on a date. "
This is the most common trap, I must say. Dating someone you haven't been with for a long time usually results with the killing phrase, " We're friends, right? ". Asking someone out for a date means you're into that person, not because you only want to label your gestures as 'date'. Isn't disappointing when someone asks you out and then suddenly, that person will ask somebody else? It's like you're making reservations so you won't get vacant. Well, you cannot really say when a date is legitimate or not. Dates have only little chances of prolonging a status from friends to an item, so maybe the only advice is, do not expect a lot.

Dating, in whatever shape or definition, is a game of chances. It is indeed a trap for expectations and disappointments. Nevertheless, it is up to you if you will make or break a date. I'm not saying it is not good to date someone, just remember that dates doesn't always end up with a love story.
